Our flagship category
Solar & home battery storage
Battery storage is where solar starts paying for itself after dark. A battery captures the electricity your panels make during the day and releases it in the evening peak, so you buy far less from the grid. It's our largest and fastest-moving category.
We stock storage from compact 5kWh units up to stacked multi-battery systems, in both AC-coupled (retrofit) and DC-coupled (hybrid) formats. Sizing is driven by your evening usage, not just your roof area.
What this category covers
Home battery storage
Whole-home batteries sized to shift daytime generation into the evening peak.
Solar battery storage (retrofit)
AC-coupled batteries that add to an existing array without replacing the inverter.
Hybrid / DC-coupled systems
Battery-and-hybrid-inverter packages for new installs, with fewer components.
Stackable / expandable batteries
Modular units you can add capacity to as your usage grows.
Off-grid battery banks
Higher-capacity storage for cabins, farms and standalone systems.
Brands we stock & compare
The batteries UK buyers ask about most are the Tesla Powerwall (a large all-in-one AC battery), GivEnergy (UK-built, flexible modular capacity) and FoxESS (competitively-priced stackable storage). Our 2026 price guide compares real-world cost per kWh across the popular options.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?
Yes. An AC-coupled (retrofit) battery adds storage to an existing array without replacing your inverter. If you're installing fresh, a hybrid inverter with a DC-coupled battery is usually more efficient.
How many kWh of battery storage do I need?
Size to your evening and overnight usage rather than your roof. Many UK homes land around 5–10kWh; our 2026 battery price guide explains how capacity, cost per kWh and tariffs interact.
